The HIMserve Story

HIMserve Society has be in existence since 28 October 2003 and is officially registered as an NGO in India under the Societies Act of 1961. It is eligible to receive foreign funds under FCRA 1976 and has tax exemption under Income Tax Act 1961. It was founded and led by Ms. Anne Herr, Germany till 2010.

HIMserve is governed by a Board comprising of local leaders who provide sound and Godly leadership. The Board has authorized the Executive Director to manage and oversee the day to day work and be responsible for all staff and volunteers. All management decisions of the organization are taken by a Management Team comprising of the Executive Director and Department Heads. Where appropriate the decisions are referred to the Board for consideration.

HIMserve’s philosophy is not to run its own projects but, rather to partner with local people helping them to grow a concern for their entire community and equipping them to be salt and light in their areas of influence. Our focus is mobilizing, capacity building, women empowerment, gender equality and skills development training in the areas of holistic leadership development, forming and running community based groups, preventive health & healthy living, water and sanitation, work among children and adolescents, anti human trafficking, climate change, poverty elimination , livelihood. agriculture & animal husbandry. We work on a 10 year strategic plan with our partners who are from Nepali speaking communities in needy and often remote areas of North Bengal and other parts of North East India.
